Join our list of Volunteers

To us there is nothing better than getting our hands in the earth and tending to plants. It is often hard work that requires physical labor and much dedication but can be so rewarding.

Each farm is different and often has many unique systems created by the farmers for their individual needs or desires.

Farming is a skill and knowledge based job. It took us many years to get to where we are today and we still learn more everyday. Farming requires a lot of time, energy, and adaptability. There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done and each year systems grow and change as needed.

As a volunteer, there are many things for you to do on the farm such as moving mulch/compost around, weeding our perennial beds or harvesting potatoes. More often than not we will be right there with you doing the same tasks.

Besides our farm business (Hawk & Handsaw Farm) we also maintain Island Community Farm’s Food Forest and newly constructed Pollinator Garden. These are areas where we encourage more independent work if that is something you desire.
